Mammootty after a series of many flops in 2008 entered into 2009 with another flop LOVE IN SINGAPORE. But his next film which released after 5 months especially meant for children EE PATTANATHIL BHOOTAM got a good response. It was the film which marked his come back. His double role in this film-Jimmy & Bhootam attracted children more. His next film was Daddy cool which was a cool hit. It was directed by Ashik Abu. It attracted family's more.His next film was directed by Jayraj-LOUD SPEAKER, the story of Mike-a person who talk too loudly. Its low cost of production made it a decent hit. It was enriched by the acting talent of Mammootty and the song "Alliyambal Kadavil..."His next film was Kerala Cafe-a film directed by 10 directors. In this film he marked his presance in the short film PURAMKAZHCHAKAL directed by Lal Jose. His next film was the most awaited film in 2009-PAZHASSIRAJA. Pazhassiraja directed by Hariharan became the ever grosser in malayalam. It collected 1.5 crores in the first day itself. Mammootty got a chance to prove his talent through this film. His next film was directed by Renjith - Paleri manikyam oru pathira kolapathakathinte kadha. He did multi role in this film. His character Ahmed Haji got a great response from the people. Finally in december his CHATTAMBI NADU released. Its a great entertainer and especially meant for his fans. On the other hand Mohanlal who had many hits in 2008 had to suffer in 2009. His first film in 2009 RED CHILLIES, directed by shaji kailas, focusing his fans ended up with his own fans. Mohanlal appeared in a new get up in this film and his punch dialogue " Onnum marakkilla rama " ended up in vain. His next film was SAGAR ALIAS JACKY - the most awaited film in 2009. Amal Neerad the director cum camera man of the film put his full effort for this film. It was the first Super Hit of Big m's in 2009. But it is notable that it lacked a good story line and script. The publicity of the film made it a super hit. In 2009 the talent of mohanlal was seen only in the film Bhramaram. It was a good film and became a decent hit. 2009 was a mixed year for mohanlal. His films Bhagavan and Angel Jhone were the worst movie in 2009. I have nothing to say about these films. After these flops he made a good come back through IVIDAM SWARGAMANU directed by Roshan Andrews. Its a simple film where Mohanlal is mixed with the charecter.

In just one word I will say about the movie-"ITHANU CINEMA".After a long time Mega Star Mammootty has made a powerful come back with this film.Even though his last movies - Ee Pattanathil Bhootham & Daddy Cool were hit, it didn't contained the powerful acting of the Mega Star. I felt that the role of Jagathy Sreekumar was just irritating. I went for a film full of sentiments. But Jairaj and his crew gave me a delicious treat through this film which contained all the elements which a movie should have.The movie also introduces a new method of spot dubbing which helped to reduce the production cost.

Mohanlal in Bhramaram

Superstar of Malayalam, Mohanlal and Class director of modern day cinema, Blessy are once again coming together after the commercial as well as critical hit Thanmatra. This new film, Bhramaram will present Mohanlal as a jeep driver travelling through the high ranges of Kerala. The film is a thriller one and will be director Blessy's first attempt in such a category.Popular South Indian Actress Bhoomika Chawla is going to play the lady lead in the film. Ajayan Vincent, son of director Vincent as well as a notable cameraman in Tollywood will wield the camera. There are about 4 songs in the film by the team of Mohan Sithara - Anil Panachooran. The film is produced by Raju Mallaickal under the banner of Ragam Movies.Bharamaram is the first malayalam movie of the popular south indian actress Bhoomika Chawla.

Mammootty 2009 Projects

Mammooty with many big projects in 2009.’PazhazziRaja’,'Vandematharam’ ,’Kuttishrank’ and ‘Patanthil Bhootham’ have been completed and are slated for release. In ‘Patanthil Bhootham’ he teams up with Kavya Madhavan.

Other major projects to hit the screens this year include a film on social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, in which will Mammootty along with Mohanlal. Then he has “Daddy Cool”, the film is written and directed by debutant Ashik Abu.

'PLAY HOUSE'

Following the fellow stars of Mollywood, Megastar Mammootty is also ready with his firm for producing and distributing films. Named “Playhouse” the initiative will operate from Kochi with production controller Anto Joseph at the helm of its affairs.

The new concern was inaugurated this Sunday by directors Siddhique and Lal. Mammootty made it clear in the function that as the title itself implies theatre, the firm will also produce and stage dramas apart from distributing films.

As a major difference from other star initiatives, Mammootty's firm will also distribute films featuring other heroes. And as the first step “Playhouse’ will be distributing the Akku Akbar-Jayaram movie ‘Kaana Kanmani’, Shyama Prasad's experimental movie ‘Rithu’ and Lal Jose's remake of ‘Neelathaamara’.

The first movie production of “Playhouse” will be the years Christmas release of Mammootty. Mollywood already have a few banners run by movie stars that include Max Lab entertainments run by Mohanlal and friends and Dileep's initiative Grand Productions.

Yugapurushan Preview

After the last year's biggest movie ‘Twenty: 20’ is arriving another multistarrer, ‘Yugapurushan’- a historical based on the life and teachings of the best known social reformer from Kerala, Sree Narayana guru. Director R. Sukumaran, quite famous for his initial works like ‘Paadamudra’ and ‘Raajashilpi’ is narrating the life and teachings of the saint, Sree Narayana Guru,(1856-1928) through the movie, which will have the support from the entire artists from the industry. The director, who is back to industry after 14 years, is planning to give more emphasis on Guru's thoughts and teachings through the films, than to create another biography. He has already completed eighty percent of the shoot, for the movie at various locations at Ottapalam, Kannur, Thaliparambu.

According to the director, the movie is meant to portray how the impact of Guru's vision changed the history of Kerala society. ''I am not trying to describe the complete life of Guru through the movie, but to make the new generation understand the significance of his worldly vision. After watching the movie, I am sure everyone will realise that Guru stood for the entire society, than for any particular segment of it. This will be a movie that will guide the future generations about how guru initiated social reforms in Kerala without shedding a drop of blood and about his teachings, misread by some.''says R Sukumaran.
   
The movie will feature Thalaivasal Vijay, one of the finest character artists from Kollywood as Sreenarayana Guru. Earlier Mammootty was planned to be in the title role but the thinking actor skillfully pleaded to keep him out of the thought, as he hardly share any physical resemblances with the saint who was a part of this century. Mammootty, now plays the role of K C Kuttan, a revolutionary firebrand leader who lived for Guru and his teachings, and shared a great camaraderie with the sage, in the same period.

While Super star Mohanlal will appear as Swami Vivekanandan in the movie, Babu Antony will come up as Ayyankali, the Harijan leader from the state. The movie will also present historic personalities and contemporaries of guru like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Chattambi Swamikal, Kumaranasan, T K Madhavan, Dr. Palpu, C V Kunjuraman, Sahodaran Ayyappan and Mannathu Padmanabhan. Navya Nair will appear in double roles, the first as a Brahmin lady named Savithry Antharjanam, inspired by Guru's teachings.

‘Yugapurushan’ planned to get completed in four schedules in a budget of 5 crores is produced by A V Anoop. Also in the cast of the movie are Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Saikumar, Siddhique, Devan, Saji Vaakkandu, George Paul, Saijukurup, Shobha Mohan and Sukumaran. Ramachandra Babu handles the camera for the movie which will have a few songs set to music by Mohan Sithara in the lyrics of Kaithapram. The movie will also feature a few poems written by Guru and Mahakavi Kumaran Asan. Art director K Krishnankutty has created some exceptional sets of Sivagiri and Aruvippuram for the movie, which will be one of its highlights.

“Thalaivan Irukiran” is now “Unnaipoloruvan”

‘Kamal hassan’ & ‘Mohanlal’ The most acclaimed actors of Indian cinema who did versatile roles in various Indian languages and won several awards and accolades are coming together.

‘Unnaipoloruvan’ Started in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Rao studios.

Kamal Haasan plays the role of a stranger who plants bombs across various parts of the city and threatens police commissioner (Mohan Lal) he would blast the entire city if he doesn’t release the most wanted criminals in town. Finally, things aren’t happening as you expected.

Shruthi hassan would be doing the background score and signature song.Chakri an ad filmmaker based in US is the director of the film.This biggest project likely to release on july 4.

JAGADEESH TO DIRECT MAMMOOTTY

Comic hero and supporting star Jagadheesh, is again to his ever time high in popularity, after the recent super hit - To Harihar Nagar. But the latest news is that, he is all set to call the shots to super star Mammootty in a short while.

His debut feature as a director will feature the super star as the hero. The initial works including the scripting for this movie is on at the capital city. News is that Jagadheesh who had been a co writer to many hilarious comedies of the eighties, will script the movie himself. This untitled project to be produced by Ajayachandran Nair, will be one of the prestigious projects of Mammootty in the first half of 2010.

PALERY MANIKYAM

Mammootty's next ‘Palery Maanikyam’ will start its shoot by the next week.

The movie will have its first shot scenes at Paris, by the end of this week. Produced by A V Anoop and Subair in the banner of A V A productions and Varnachithra Bigscreen, the movie is based on a famous novel by T P Rajeevan. 
   
Sreenivasan, Jagathy Srekumar, Vijayaraghavan and Siddhique will be also in the cast of the movie which will feature another thirty fresh faces in important roles. New comers Reema Kallunkal and Gowry will don the female lead of this movie, which is expected to grace the theatres by the end of this year.
